The Phoroptolite is a retrofittable illumination system that blends seamlessly with modern phoropters, actually enhancing the look of the equipment. There are no exposed wires. Rather, a 20 hour rechargeable lithium-ion battery, encased in a high-impact flame retardant black textured polymer module, powers LED lighting arrays that illuminate the sphere and cylinder power windows, and cylinder axis dials. The lighting system utilizes reflective rather than retro-illumination, which reduces diffraction and makes the axis dials easier to read than OEM illuminated models. The unit has time proven electronic circuitry, with left and right hand operation, 10 min auto-off, and both visual and auditory two-stage low-battery indicators. Installation is simple, no tools are required, and the cost is about 1/3 that for a new unit with trade-in.

Battery Control Module (BCM)
- Smartly-styled high-impact textured housing made of flame retardant polymer with easy mount retro-fittable brackets. Easy-to-use on/off push-buttons located on both right and left hand sides provide 10 minute auto-off operating times.
- High capacity 20+ hour use rechargeable lithium-ion battery has built-in circuitry for optimum life and safe operation, with 2 stage visual and auditory low battery indicators.
- Recessed yet easily accessible recharging jack and smart charger which recharges battery in 4-6 hours.
Lighting Arrays (LA)
- Precision machined polymer lighting arrays look built-in and contain 50,000+ hour use LEDs inside a lighting diffuser which eliminates glare.
- A combination of sturdy polymer covered metal tubing and flexible braided conduit easily attaches lighting arrays to battery control module with 2.5mm color-coded miniature phone plugs, and securely mounts to phoropter with industrial-rated double-sided adhesive foam pads.
Installation Kit
- Spacer gauge insures proper positioning of circular lighting arrays around cylinder axis dials.
- Alcohol swabs to improve adhesion, spare mounting pads, tubing clamps and charger access plug cover, and a tool to remove charger plug cover.
